At Sunrise Cedar Homes we specialize in
the use of Structural Insulated Panels in our homes. By incorporating SIP's as
well as other earth-friendly materials into your project we can significantly
decrease the environmental impact of your new home.
-
Structural Insulated Panels minimize
the impact on the environment because of their superior energy efficiency. They
significantly reduce the demand for fossil fuel consumption and the releasing
of greenhouse gas emissions during the years you heat and cool your home. SIP's
are also 100% recyclable and generate considerably less jobsite waste, which
means less waste material being put into our landfills. The Expanded
Polystyrene (EPS) is manufactured using a low-environmental impact process of
steam expansion that contains no CFC's or HCFC's or formaldehyde. EPS is an
inert material, so there are no issues with dust or off gassing. The Oriented Strand
Board (OSB) sheathing used on SIP's is made from renewable and sustainable
resources because no old-growth timber is required.
-
Fiber Cement Siding options are resource-efficient in addition to
being very low-maintenance and offering an improved fire rating when compared
to wood siding. The wood fiber in these products is reclaimed from wood
processing waste or harvested from small diameter, fast-growing species. They
also come in a variety of pre-finishing options including natural wood tones.
-
Engineered Wood products include laminated veneer lumber (LVL), wood
I-beams and I-joists, and wood roof and floor trusses. These products provide
more load-bearing capabilities, resistance to shrinking, twisting, splitting,
warping and crowning as well as more design flexibility due to increased spans.
Engineered wood products are more environmentally -friendly because they use
fast-growing, small-diameter trees, allow for more of the log to end up as product,
and reduce wood waste by taking material utilization into account during the
manufacturing process.
-
Energy Star Windows improve the overall energy efficiency of your home.
-
Composite Lumber provides a durable alternative to solid wood for decking
materials as well as fences, benches, docks, and landscape borders. It has a long
life expectancy in exposed, sub-grade or marine applications and can readily
substitute for treated wood in non-structural applications and will not leach
chemicals into ground or surface water or soil.
